The American Company Hewlett-Packard Inc., also known as HP, unveiled their new smartphone: Elite X3 during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain on the 21st of February 2016.

The tech world were passionately waiting for this release named as Elite X3 for its revolutionary advancement as it can be turned into a computer.

Elite X3 is powered by Windows 10 which enables it to work as a computer due to the Continuum specification in Windows 10. It makes every device operating on Windows compatible with one another since it was designed to facilitate the move from one device to another, especially when using a keyboard and a mouse.

Continuum enables the connection of different devise, and regarding HP Elite X3, it can connect the phone to a big screen, computer, or laptop through a special base designed specifically for this purpose to project the screens content to the available display and using a keyboard and mouse making this smartphone a computer, laptop, and phone.

HP declared that the Desk Dock will be the base connecting the phone to another device. Desk Dock is a base with HDMI, USB, and Ethernet ports which allows the user to connect the screen, keyboard, and mouse to the phone turning it into a personal computer.

HP Elite X3 Specifications

Speaking of the specifications, and beginning with the design, HP Elite X3 is considered one of the large phones with the dimensions of 161.8x83.5x7.8 mm weighing 195 grams.

It will be available in a black color only.

It has a dual sim card option and is water and dust resistant where it can withstand a depth of 1m for 30 minutes.

HP Elite X3 has a 5.96 inch screen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels covered in a layer of Gorilla Corning 4 glass (break and scratch resistant).

As for the system specifications, HP Elite X3 has a quad core Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 processor, made from two processors: the first operating on a speed of 2.15 GHz and the other on a 1.6 GHz.

It has a 64GB internal storage and a 4GB RAM with the ability to add an additional SD Card (up to 200GB).

HP Elite X3 has a rear camera with a resolution of 16MP and an 8MP front camera.

Due to the above specifications, experts at HP equipped the phone with a non-removable 4150 mAh battery.

And similar to other smartphones, HP Elite X3 supports Bluetooth, WiFi, speakers, and other features that are common in smartphones.

Summary

In addition to being powered on Windows 10, HP Elite X3 can be easily turned into a computer and can be used as a computer and smartphone at the same time.

It is expected to be released in the market during next June 2016, but the company did not yet determine a price.

Questions still remain between technicians and tech experts around whether or not this device will replace a personal computer, or if HP is aiming to replace computers with smartphones? Or if HP Elite X3 is the best phone powered by Windows 10 so far?
