Smartphones are spreading noticeably in Jordan; this was confirmed by some recent studies and researches done by official and non-official parties in Jordan. The study revealed that 70% of Jordanian families have at least one smartphone in their house. Here at Labeb.com, we have conducted a survey to list the 5 most popular smartphones in Jordan.

According to the survey Labeb.com conducted, which included more than 500 stores and companies selling smartphones in Jordan, Samsung note 5 was on the top of the list, followed by Apple iPhone 6.

The survey was conducted in two methods. In the first one we called stores registered at Labeb.com and conducted a questionnaire about the 5 most popular smartphones being sold in Jordan. In the second method we sent our representatives to stores with paper questionnaires. After that, data was collected and analyzed.

Using smartphones and tablets in a wide range in Jordan indicates that the world of information technology and communication is being highly interacted with in Jordan. This is further confirmed by some studies and researches done by governmental and private organizations, which stated that more than two third of families in Jordan own at least one smartphone in the house.

Based on the questionnaire Labeb conducted, the list of the 5 most popular smartphones in Jordan for the past two years until March 2016 turned up to be as follows:

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 occupied the first place in the list of the 5 most popular smartphones in Jordan, which was available in August 2015 in the Jordanian market. Previous versions of this mobile like Note 3 and Note 4 are still of much interest for many Jordanian users.

Galaxy Note 5 comes with a 5.7 inch display with a resolution of 2560x1440 Pixels. It measures 153.2x76.1x7.6 mm (Height x width x thickness) and weighs 171 grams.

The phone is powered by octa-core Exynos 7420 processor; consists of 2 dual core processors, the first is powered by 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, and the second is powered by 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 processor.

Regarding the operating system, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 mobiles run Android 5.1 which is known as Lollipop, with the ability to update it to Android 6.0 or Marshmallow.

The display is 4.7 inch and has a resolution of 1334x750 Pixel. The phone measures 138.1 x 67x 6.9 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 129 grams.

iPhone 6 is powered by a processor developed by Apple Company called (Apple A8) which runs (iOS 8), with the ability to update it into (iOS 9.3).

Based on the internal memory’s storage capacity, the phone is available in many versions in the Jordanian markets, 32, 64 and 128 GB, whereas RAM is 1 GB for all versions. It is powered by an 1810 mAH battery.

The back camera has a resolution of 8 MP, whereas the front camera has 1.2 MP resolution. Colors available in Jordanian markets are grey, silver and gold.

HTC is considered a strong competitor in the Jordanian markets of smartphones. According to the survey our team conducted HTC One M9 mobiles occupied the third place in the list of the 5 most common smartphones in Jordan during the last year of 2015. HTC One M9 was released and became available in Jordan during the first quarter of 2015.

HTC One M9 comes with a 5.0 inch display; it is powered by octa core Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 processor and runs on Android 5.0; which is known as Lollipop, It has the ability to be updated into Android 6.0 or Marshmallow.

The phone packs 32 GB of internal storage. It comes with 2 GB of RAM.

The resolution of the back camera is 20 MP; however the front camera’s is 4 MP. Electric capacity of the battery is 2840 mAh. The mobile is available in grey, gold, silver and pink colors.

Huawei Mate 8

Down to the 4^th place comes Huawei Mate 8 smartphone; clearly Jordanians are starting to trust Chinese products more, specifically in the smartphones world, Labeb’s survey revealed that Huawei Mate 8 mobiles are the 4^th most popular smartphones in Jordan.

The Huawei Mate 8 was launched in November 2015. It’s considered a large smartphone, close to be called a small tablet as it comes with a 6.0 inch touchscreen display.

Technically, Huawei Mate 8 is powered by octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. The mobile is available in 2 versions based on the storage capacity of the internal memory and RAM, first version packs 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM, the second version packs 64 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM.

It comes with a back camera with a resolution of 16 MB, whereas the front camera’s resolution is 8 MP. The phone is powered by a 4000 mAh battery.

Huawei Mate 8 is available in the Jordanian market in the following colors: gold, silver, light grey and brown.

Prices of this phone in Jordan range from 385 to 420 JOD depending on the color and storage capacity.

Sony Xperia Z5

The 5^th place in the list of most common smartphones in Jordan goes to Sony Xperia Z5 which comes with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display.

Sony Xperia Z5 has remarkable features like water resistance and most importantly the high resolution of its camera. According to all recent studies and researches Sony Xperia Z5 has the best camera yet; the resolution of the back camera is 23 MP whereas the front camera has a resolution of 5.1 MP.

Sony Xperia Z5 runs on Android 5.1.1 and can be easily updated. CPU is produced by Qualcomm Company which is octa core  Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810.

Regarding memories, the phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card and it comes with 3GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z5 is powered by a 2900 mAH  non-removable battery, which can be charged to 60% in 30 minutes.
